Methods, sources & safety

Useful engineering begins with knowing what a model can—and cannot—tell you.

What these guides are

The Academy contains 100 AI-assisted educational guides, organized into four learning paths. They explain established engineering models using original numerical examples and suggested validation procedures. They are not claimed to have been physically tested on WIFA hardware or independently certified.

How to use a worked example

Read the assumptions and units, reproduce the arithmetic, then substitute measured inputs from your own system. A predicted value is not a measured result. Every original diagram uses illustrative values, including any example error rates or before-and-after comparisons.

Reference reading

Article links point to primary educational material, official software documentation or manufacturer guidance relevant to the topic. They do not imply endorsement, and not every source describes the exact example or procedure on this site. OpenCV examples reference the 4.13 documentation; check the version installed in your own environment.

Robot and machinery safety

A collaborative-capable robot does not make every application safe. Tools, workpieces, surrounding machines, trapping points, stored energy and foreseeable misuse must be assessed together. Use current applicable standards and manufacturer instructions with a competent integrator. The 2025 ISO 10218 revisions are discussed in Universal Robots’ safety FAQ; a website tutorial is not a substitute for the standards or an application assessment.

Do not use our simplified stopping-distance, energy or force examples as human-contact limits or protective separation settings. Ordinary cameras, application software, communications timeouts and hobby controllers are not automatically safety-rated protective systems.

Simulation first

Begin with calculations, saved images and a simulator. Physical testing requires suitable guarding, travel limits, controlled energy, fault handling and trained supervision. Support falling loads and follow the appropriate isolation procedure before mechanical work. Have mains wiring and safety-system design handled by qualified people.

Authorship and correction

The organizational author is WIFA Robotics Academy. AI assistance is disclosed on each guide. No professional review, certification, instructor credential or measured performance is implied. If you find an error, note the article title, equation and proposed correction when contacting WIFA Robotics through the existing site contact.

Cover illustrations, photographs and diagrams

Each guide has its own AI-generated cover illustration of the article’s subject. These conceptual scenes are not photographs of WIFA prototypes or engineering drawings. The four learning-path reference photographs show third-party equipment; their sources and licenses are credited. The 100 numerical diagrams remain original educational illustrations. See image credits and licenses.

Dates and revisions

This collection was published on 21 September 2026. Dates should change only when content materially changes, not to imply freshness without an update.
